The crucifixion of Jesus was a beautiful tragedy. In this one event, we have the collision of humanity’s worst and God’s best; violence and forgiveness. Humanity’s violence and Divinity’s forgiveness.
Though the cross, Rome’s preferred method of capital punishment, was a horrific display of agonizing pain and dehumanizing shame; Jesus turned it into an icon of beautiful mercy, grace, and reconciliation.
In this series, we will explore the Seven statements Jesus made from the cross. In doing so, we will ask how these statements of Jesus help us live this cruciform life.
