📌 Scenario for Reflection
Shirley had been working tirelessly, trying to make ends meet and stressing over how things would come together. She prayed, but she still found herself anxious, constantly checking her bank account and worrying about her future.
One night, as she read Psalm 23:2, the words struck her differently: "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures." It wasn’t just about being provided for—it was about trusting that provision was already there.
Realizing this, Shirley made a decision: instead of striving in her own strength, she would surrender her worries to God. She continued working hard, but now with peace in her heart. Soon, unexpected opportunities and financial blessings began to flow her way—not through panic, but through trust.
💡 Lesson:
God’s provision is already in place—we just need to rest in it. When we stop striving and start trusting, we position ourselves to receive the blessings God has already prepared.
Why do we struggle to rest in God’s provision?
Fear of losing control
Doubt that God will come through
Past disappointments or struggles
Trying to handle things in our own strength
💬 Discussion Question for Comments:
Have you ever experienced a time when you stopped worrying and fully trusted God—only to see His provision come in an unexpected way? How did that change your faith?
I recall a time when I dealt with financial struggles, but despite the what it looked like,I didn’t worry and I chose to have faith that everything would eventually fall into place. To my surprise, I received an unexpected bonus. This experience reminded me that even when difficult situations arose, God has a greater plan at play. By placing my trust in God, I was blessed in ways that many could hardly imagine.
Learning that my ways and God ways are two different things and I have to fully trust that he is in complete control even when it doesn’t look like the way we think it should look. I’m yet learning that I need to sit down or even lay down when the storms of life are raging cause he’s promised me he will never leave me or forsake me.
Learning that provision doesn't always come in the form we expect has been huge for me. Also finding contenment in God's answer has been a big lesson.
