In his recent sermon, Dr. GreGory reminded us of a powerful truth from Psalm 23: “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.” At the start of the month God emphasized to the lesson of “getting seated” and “becoming unified,” but now God is calling us to go a step further: to lie down in complete trust and rest.
Get Seated, Get Unified
God’s initial invitation was to get seated—symbolizing unity in His house. When we come together in agreement, blessings flow more freely. It’s in this place of oneness that God can “rush” a blessing to us.
We Always Win
When we submit our will to God’s—saying, “Not my will, but thy will be done”—we declare that we are never defeated. No matter the situation, we can walk upright because we have the confidence of God’s strength supporting us.
Trust God’s Answers
Sometimes we don’t receive the answer we desire. Yet learning to accept God’s response, especially when it’s not what we want, is part of spiritual maturity. We lay down our own understanding and trust in the Lord’s perfect plan.
Freedom from Financial Worries
Dr. Gregory reminded us that God’s provision knows no bounds. He can provide resources from unexpected places—just as He provided a coin from a fish to cover the disciples’ expenses. When we honor God with our finances, we can rest assured that He will supply our needs.
Green Pastures & Rotational Blessings
God’s “green pastures” are rich soil, indicative of abundant nourishment. There are two types of pastures:
Permanent Pastures, which represent long-term sustenance and stability.
Rotational Pastures, which symbolize seasons of refreshed blessings.
We pray, “Lord, give us rotational blessings,” trusting that He will continually rejuvenate us in every season.
God’s Dining Room
Think of these green pastures as God’s personal dining room—a place where He lays out a full bounty of nourishment for our souls. Even in a desert-like season, God maintains a remnant of provision. We may be in a wilderness, but He ensures we are sustained.
Lying Down in Complete Rest
Now, as we’ve embraced unity, the call is to lie down. When we lie down, we enter a deeper level of rest—a posture of complete surrender to God’s protection and abundance. This kind of rest frees us from worry because it declares total dependence on the Shepherd.
Jesus & the Storm
In Mark 4, Jesus slept through a raging storm. When the disciples woke Him, He simply said, “Peace, be still.” Our storms become symbols of hope when we remember that Jesus, unbothered by the turmoil, holds all authority. We, too, can lie down in our spirits, trusting the battle is His.
The Storm Is Over
Whatever storm you face—fear, financial struggles, relationship challenges—know that God’s word over your life is peace. As we choose to lie down and rest in Him, we find that the storm is over because our hearts are anchored in His promises.
Sit, unify, and then lie down in God’s comforting presence. Let Him guide you into those lush, green pastures where provision is endless and rest is guaranteed. No matter what rages around you, if you are lying down in God’s assurance, you’ll discover that victory is already yours.

Amen, Amen!
